Michael William Kirby has been able to develop workshop techniques for street paintings that are based off of techniques used in large scale mural painting. Mr. Kirby was again one of the first artists to hold classes and share his techniques with others that are now being copied and imitated by numerous people around the world. His classes and workshops are designed for students and professionals of all age groups and backgrounds. The workshops are designed for 2 to 4 hours. These classes can be specifically designed for elementary age to high school age groups. Mr. Kirby has also held workshops in Universities and Museums for adults of all ages and experience.
In general there is a maximum of 30 people per class but depending on the circumstances a larger class can be incorporated. Mr. Kirby and his studio begins the class by explaining what is involved in creating a street painting and different techniques that are used as well as the techniques of other street painters. After which the workshop will proceed to the location discussed. A predetermined design will be handed out to all the participants in the workshop. In the end it is guaranteed that each participant will have learned valuable information as well as getting a bit dirty. Michael Kirby has also given numerous lectures on the history of street painting and its artists. These lectures go over the variety of artists in the field as well as giving a visual presentation of the history of street painting over the numerous centuries.
